Chiropractic Adjustments and Manipulation
A chiropractic adjustment is a manual manipulation of the vertebral segments of the spine performed by the Chiropractor. The intention of an adjustment is to remove nerve interference cause by a vertebral misalignment or spinal fixation. When the spine has nerve interference, your body becomes more vulnerable to infectious diseases.
The adjustment itself is usually painless and it's healing ability starts immediately. You may notice a change either instantly, or within a few hours depending on the severity of your problem. Occasionally a longer period of time is necessary when actual damage to the disc or joints has occurred.

Massage Therapy
Massage is a popular therapy used to relieve muscle tension, spasms, inflammation, fluid retention, aches, stiffness, and pain. Other benefits include improved circulation (blood and lymph), improves metabolism, general flexibility, range of motion, and increased tissue elasticity (e.g. scar tissue).
During treatment, the physical therapist may include localized massage (e.g. low back or neck) as a prelude to exercise. Massage increases circulation and warms muscles and other soft tissues (e.g. tendons, ligaments). Other types of massage include full-body massage, which often leaves the patient feeling relaxed and free of anxiety.
How does massage work to relax muscles?
As the therapist uses their hands or specialized tools to rhythmically knead, rub, and stroke (effluerage) muscles, circulation is stimulated. Blood flow delivers oxygen and nutrients, and is key to helping muscles eliminate waste products such as lactic acid that may collect in muscles from spasms causing pain.
Following trauma, muscles may act as mini-splints to protect and limit motion, similar to a cast on a broken arm. A typical example is a person who uses a computer for a prolonged time period without taking a break to stretch the neck. The result: stiff neck, aching, even pain. Taking periodic breaks to rub (mini-massage) and stretch the neck will promote circulation to the muscles.
What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial release, or soft tissue mobilization, is a therapy used to release tension stored in the fascia. Fascia are sheets of fibrous tissue that encase and support muscles separating them into groups and layers. Following trauma, the fascia and muscles may shorten restricting blood flow. The techniques used in myofascial release relax muscle tension and break up fascial adhesions.
What is Trigger Point and Myotherapy?
Trigger points are tiny tight nodules that form in muscles causing referred pain. Sometimes myofascial pain can be linked to one or more trigger points. The treatment goals include alleviating muscle spasms, improving circulation, and releasing trigger points. The therapist applies direct momentary pressure to a trigger point to cause its release. During the massage, the therapist may return several times to a stubborn trigger point to elicit its release.
As trigger points are released, the therapist stretches the muscle using a technique called Spray and Stretch. This technique incorporates a superficial cooling agent such as Fluori-Methane, a local anesthetic that depresses nerve response.

Therapeutic Exercise
Therapeutic exercise is any exercise planned and performed to attain a specific physical benefit, such as maintenance of the range of motion, strengthening of weakened muscles, increased joint flexibility, or improved cardiovascular and respiratory function. Therapeutic exercise programs are designed to help strengthen the muscles surrounding the spine. Each program is designed differently for each individual in our office.

Custom Foot Orthotics
The feet are the foundation of the entire body; many problems can arise when the feet are not stabilized. It is crucial to have support and shock absorption to limit wear and tear on your spine and joints. By wearing Foot Leveler Orthotics there is less wear and tear on the feet, ankles, knees, hips and spinal column.
Dr. Randy Rosenthal uses a Digital Foot Scanner to ensure precision and accuracy when custom fitting patients for foot orthotics. This state of the art equipment leaves no room for error. The scanner is able to show the topography of the feet in a weight bearing position which is important in examining the lateral, medial and transverse arches. The scanner is also able to show if the feet are supinating or pronating. This information is sent to the laboratory where the technicians do a 16 point measurement and customize the orthotics which are specifically made for you. The inserts are removable and can be placed in multiple shoes. The type of orthotic that suits your needs can be discussed with Dr. Rosenthal.
All of the orthotics are designed to correct postural imbalances, reduce shock absorption and provide stability.

X-Rays
X-rays are not always necessary during your initial visit. In some circumstances, x-rays are needed to provide a better understanding of your underlying condition. After Dr.Randy Rosenthal does a thorough examination, he will determine if x-rays will be necessary.

Ultrasound Therapy
Ultrasound is a unique therapy which consists of high frequency sound waves which harmlessly penetrate deep into the joints and the muscles of your body. The effect of ultrasound is to mechanically increase tendon and ligament mobility. Ultrasound also will increase local blood flow. These effects reduce pain in your joints and promote healing quickly.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation Therapy (EMS)
The purpose of neuro-muscular stimulation is to relax or tone muscles that are restricting the spine form moving toward a normal state. EMS has a stimulating effect that blocks pain and neutralizes muscle spasms.

Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is the local or general use of low temperatures in the removal of heat from a body part. The purpose of this therapy is to decrease inflammation, pain and spasm from an area that has been aggravated.

Cold Laser Therapy
Cold Laser therapy is good for tissue regeneration. This therapy is an excellent modality for broken bones, torn ligaments and ruptured tendons. Cold Laser therapy is also good for carpal tunnel syndrome and plantaris fasciitis.

Intersegmental Traction Therapy (IST)
Intersegmental Traction Therapy is used to traction and release various segments of the spine. This therapy helps increase spinal range of motion as well as increase spinal nutrients back into the discs.
